NAUTICAL BASE

"Coastal Winds" Creation of a nautical base in Carnon Plage (Hérault)
Concept: The coastal dune, colonized by native wind-loving vegetation, incorporates the new sailing school. The wind is amplified by the vegetation, which it sculpts and shapes. Examples include Quercus Ilex, Olea europaea, Pistachia lentiscus, Rhamnus alaternus, Phillyrea angustifolia, and Ficus pumila. Dune plants include Amnophila arenaria, Elymus farctus, Euphorbia paralias, Calystegia soldanella, and Erygium maritum. The placement of the chestnut paling fences takes into account the site's swirling winds to stabilize the dune against the building. The fences provide protection against the northeast mistral, the northwest tramontane, and sea winds from the south.
