ABOUT US
We offer expertise in landscape, urban planning and ecology for local authorities and businesses, from concept to site supervision, in France and worldwide.
SEMPERVIRENS, which means always green in Latin or persistent, is an international technical design office specializing in landscape, urban planning, environmental engineering and design.
The agency's projects reveal and enhance natural elements while preserving the ecosystem. Our projects magnify the wind, the sun, and the water cycle to express our neo-romantic credo: "Man as servant and protector of nature." We want to redefine the relationship between humanity and its environment.
Philosophy
SEMPERVIRENS develops resource-efficient, highly contextualized landscape designs, using a majority of native plants. This botanical approach creates unique atmospheres each time, specific to the site and adapted to its geology, soil, and microclimate. This approach aims to preserve heritage biodiversity and restore degraded ecosystems, in contrast to "standardized" plantings.
The form of the developments can, on the contrary, be very architectural, in dialogue with the built environment, in contrast with the natural ecosystem.
Sempervirens, urban planners, fight against urban sprawl, recognizing the numerous benefits of integrating housing and activities into nature. It helps reduce visual pollution, particularly along coastlines, and, more importantly, offers ecological benefits by diversifying monoculture thuja hedges. Thick green roofs also provide thermal insulation for buildings. This more naturalized urbanization, integrated into the ecosystem, is possible for all building types, and this is the major challenge that Sempervirens Landscapers takes on when entrusted with landscape and urban planning projects.
Who are we ?
The agency was created at the instigation of Frédéric-Charles AILLETIn 2004, while still a student, he conceived the SEMPERVIRENS project to provide creative solutions to the ecological crisis of the Anthropocene. In 2006, his work as a landscape architect at Nicolas Michelin (ANMA) was noticed. This led to his selection to participate in the competition for the French Embassy in Tokyo, Japan
which he won. This garden received numerous awards: the American Institute of Architects Prize 2012, the Victoires du Paysage 2014, the Japanese BCS Building Contractors Society Award...
The SEMPERVIRENS team of engineers brings together multiple skills in the field of ecological infrastructure, agriculture, the restoration of natural ecosystems, water management and development in classified heritage sites, but also in the fight against water and air pollution and the implementation of participatory developments.
The agency is based in Paris and works on all types of programs in France and around the world.
