August 8, 1920 - Watercolor Wind-formed pines - From the Ancient Greek anemos (άνεμος), meaning "wind," and morphos (μορφος), "form," wind-formed pines are an adaptation that consists of the modification of the shape of plants and vegetation landscapes under the effect of strong winds. It constitutes a particular case of thigmomorphogenesis. This phenomenon is especially noticeable on the coast, in the mountains, and atop green skyscrapers.
